Scarce Redware Jar, Stamped "J CAREY & CO," Shippensburg, PA origin, mid 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and coved, semi-squared rim, impressed with "J CAREY & CO" maker's mark on underside. Lead-and-manganese-glazed interior. Two thin cracks from rim, measuring 3" and 2 3/4". A few rim chips. A small chip to underside at edge. H 7 1/4".
