Extremely Rare Quart-Sized Stoneware Jug with Incised Heart Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1800, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a heart emanating from a stem with cross-shaped leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional size and decoration, likely made as a presentation piece. Spout chips. Some staining. A fairly innocuous, circular in-the-firing contact mark to reverse. H 8".
