Very Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Whistle with Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, third quarter 19th century, wheel-thrown, narrow-mouthed jar form with applied mouthpiece, carved opening at base, and three pierced holes to body to create different notes. Elaborate cobalt stripe decoration around jar. Cobalt highlights to opening and base of jar. Excellent condition with a very faint 2 1/4" line extending from carved opening. L 4 1/8".
