Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, New York City origin, circa 1840, a one-gallon jar with cobalt "1", impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "OLCOTT, MCKEESON & CO. / DRUGGISTS / 127 MAIDEN LANE N-Y"; paired with a one-gallon jar with brushed and slip-trailed design of a flower, below the cobalt-highlighted advertising "WILLIAM PARTRIDGE & SON / NO 27 CLIFF STREET, N Y". Maiden Lane jar with a faint surface in underside and two short lines at base, as well as two small glazed-over base chips. Cliff Street jar with a small chip to interior of rim and a glazed-over line on interior, not visible on exterior.
