Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Eagle Motif, Inscribed "Star", Hamilton & Jones, Star Pottery, Greensboro, PA, circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded wax sealer rim, decorated with a stenciled cobalt design of a Federal eagle clutching olive branches and arrows, holding a banner, inscribed "Star", within its beak. An approximately 3 1/2" hairline from rim. A few minor chips to interior of rim and a small chip to inner wax sealer rim. A base chip. H 8 1/2".
