Fine Three-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Alkaline Glaze, Stamped "CJB", Columbus Jackson Becham, Crawford County, GA, late 19th century, beehive-form jug with applied handles at the shoulders, the surface covered in a glossy, olive-colored alkaline glaze, overlain with darker runs. One handle impressed "CJB", the maker's mark of the Crawford County, Georgia potter, Columbus Jackson Becham. This example features a highly-prized, double-handled form in the classic, Becham family style, sports a high-gloss glaze, and survives in remarkable condition. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor years ago. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some typical firing flaws. H 15".
