Scarce Alkaline-Glazed Lidded Stoneware Coffeepot, Crawford County, GA origin, late 19th century, ovoid form with tooled accents, flared rim, and applied strap handle, the shoulder fitted with a thin-walled pouring spout covering a circular opening to the pot's interior. Surface covered in a glossy olive-green alkaline glaze. Includes original alkaline-glazed lid with rounded clay knob. Excellent form. Exhibited: "Missing Pieces; Georgia Folk Art", a traveling show from 1976-1977, pictured on p. 91, fig. 81 of the exhibit catalog; Atlanta Historical Society, Atlanta, Georgia, December 5, 1976, 1977; The Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences, Savannah, Georgia, April-July, 1977; The Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts, Columbus, Georgia, September-October, 1977. Coffeepot with chips to top edge of spout and a small rim chip on reverse. Some shallow chipping to lid. H (including lid) 10 1/4".
