Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO / LYONS", New York State origin, circa 1845, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a pinwheel-like design composed of a cross-shaped foliate motif interspersed with leafy accents. Brushed cobalt number 2 below spout. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Spout chips. A short line in spout. A faint 2 1/4" line to body near base. Staining to surface. A tiny nick to lower handle terminal.
