Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Northeastern U.S. origin, mid 19th century, an ovoid jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed tulip motif, stamped "LYONS", Nathan Clark, Lyons, NY, circa 1840; paired with a two-gallon jug with cobalt urn and vine motif, stamped "L. & B.G. CHACE / SOMERSET", MA origin, circa 1850. Lyons jar with heavy chipping to rim, and a 1 1/4" hairline from rim on front. Chace jug with a 5/8" filled hole on left side, including hairlines extending from it, a 1 1/8" filled spot on right side of jug, a long, horizontal in-the-firing wrinkle in clay at base, and a short separation on underside, filled with plaster.
