Five-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "RIEDINGER & CAIRE / POUGHKEEPSIE, NY" circa 1870, large-sized, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird with crest and ringed neck, perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with a recessed in-the-firing contact mark to left side front and some light staining. H 18 3/4".
