Rare Kaolin Sewertile Lion Paperweight, Incised "EJE", Edward J. Ellwood, Tuscawaras County, OH, mid 20th century, molded in the form of a reclining lion on oval base. Underside incised "EJE" and "T". An interesting white clay piece made by well-known sewertile artist, Edward Ellwood. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced collection of sewertile amassed during the 1960s and 1970s, many purchased directly from the potters themselves. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with firing lines to surface. L 4 1/2".
