Very Rare Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "DAVID COBB / N. BRIDGWATER", Plymouth County, MA origin, circa 1830, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, decorated with conjoined tulips flanking the maker's mark. Additional cobalt brushwork to maker's mark. One of a few signed examples of David Cobb stoneware we have seen. Appealing form and size. Excellent overall condition with a small chip and tiny nick to rim on reverse, an in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder, and a minor nick to underside at edge. H 7 3/4".
