Two Utilitarian Pottery Pigs, Midwestern origin, late 19th century, a large molded stoneware figure of a reclining pig with applied tail and salt-glazed surface, possibly used as a doorstop of paperweight; paired with a glazed sewertile doorstop in the form of a standing pig with raised floral design and incised eyes and nostrils. Stoneware pig in excellent, essentially as-made condition with a glazed-over line in rear foot and a 2 1/2" surface line on back. Sewertile doorstop in excellent condition with some glazed-over, in-the-firing separation lines in clay and a minor base chip. L (of salt-glazed pig) 8 3/8".
