Ten-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Apple, Tornado, and Leaf Decorations, Ohio origin, circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front with a large X denoting ten gallons, surrounding by brushed cobalt apples, leaves, tornadoes, and other flourishes. Good decoration. Large crack from rim on front. Rim secured with wire. Exfoliation to base on front. A small rim chip on reverse with 7” crack descending from it.($500-$700)
