Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, probably Greene County, TN origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied strap handles, the surface covered in an even salt glaze. A 1 1/8" rim chip. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. A 1 1/8" rim chip. A 3" line of wear to shoulder. Other light surface wear. A few small in-the-firing pings to surface. H 12 1/8".
