Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed to the Mort Pottery, Jefferson County, TN, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, and thick lug handles with doubly-depressed terminals, composed of iron-rich clay, the surface covered in a dark-brown slip with light overlying salt glaze. Chips and wear to rim. Wear to one handle. A shallow chip and minor wear to opposing handle. A 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" flake to one side. Other light surface wear. Underside reassambled and reglued. H 16".
