Rare Copper-Glazed Redware Jar, possibly East TN, circa 1810-1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, vertical-flanged rim and open vertical handles, the exterior surface covered in a green lead-and-copper glaze. Clear lead glaze to interior. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Literature: Illustrated in Wahler, Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Part One, p. 182, fig. 202 and p. 228, fig. 202. Provenance: Originally found in Knoxville, TN. Wear to rim and handles. In-the-firing contact marks and an in-the-firing ping to surface. H 7 1/2".
