Extremely Rare Yellow-Glazed Redware Jar, probably Greene County, TN origin, second or third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, narrow, rounded mouth, and arched tab handles. Surface covered in a lead-based glaze with highly unusual, mottled yellow coloration accented with orange, possibly created through the use of a light iron concentration. Wahler affectionately named this jar "Old Yellar" due to its remarkable color. Provenance: Originally owned by the Corby family in the Pilot Hill community of Washington County, TN, near Greene County. Professional restoration to edges of handles. Minor unrestored chipping to handles. Some surface wear to midsection. A small area of professional restoration to base. Some wear to interior of rim. A small piece of adhered in-the-firing clay below one handle H 11".
