Glazed Redware Jar, probably Greene County, TN, circa 1830-1870, ovoid jar with narrow foot and wide, semi-squared rim, the exterior covered in a brown lead-based glaze colored with iron or manganese, the interior covered in a clear lead glaze. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Literature: Illustrated in Wahler, Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Part One, p. 69, fig. 68, and p. 201, fig. 68. Provenance: Found in Greene County, TN. A large stone inclusion on one side. A shallow 5/8" rim chip and a few other minor rim chips. Chipping around foot. H 6 1/8".
