Stoneware Candlestick, TN origin, late 19th or early 20th century, open-based form with semi-rounded mouth and applied vertical handles, the surface coated in a brownish slip. Original pierced hole at base. Provenance: Pat Young, Monterey, TN. Young told Wahler, "I found the candle holder a few years ago when Rachel and I were out one weekend on one of our junking adventures...It was here in Tennessee.. The man that had it said he had bought it a long time ago, intending to keep it forever, out of a house in the Nashville area... ." A small handle chip and minor wear to handles. Minor rim and base wear. H 8 3/4".
