Extremely Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar, Inscribed "Made by James Harris / Mohawk Ten / Mohawk / A / Mohawk," Mohawk, TN origin, circa 1887-1900, cylindrical jar with rounded "wax sealer" rim and salt-glazed surface, featuring the vertically-incised signature of Mohawk, Tennessee potter, James Harris. Harris may be the "J. M. Harris" who appears in the pictured affidavit as associated with the Mohawk Pottery. For more information on this somewhat mysterious stoneware manufactory, see the previous lot's description. Chipping and wear to interior of rim and inner wax sealer rim. Flakes to shoulder. H 9".
