Rare Small-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Jar with Lid, probably Thomas Owenby, Union District, SC, circa 1850, ovoid jar with flattened tab handles and semi-squared rim, the surface covered in a streaky brown alkaline glaze. Includes original domed lid with matching glaze. An approximately 2 1/2" x 3/4" professionally-restored flake to rim. A small chip to one handle. A few minor, in-the-firing base chips. Lid with a glazed-over, in-the-firing flake to flange on underside and small edge chips. H (including lid) 9".
