Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Jug with Sistersville, WV Advertising, Palatine, WV or Western PA origin, circa 1880, ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled advertising, "DOYLE & THOMPKINS / WHOLESALE / AND / RETAIL / LIQUOR DEALERS / SISTERSVILLE, W.VA." Various in-the-firing contact marks to body and handle, most significant on reverse. Minor nicks to spout. A minor in-the-firing spout chip. H 11 3/4".
