Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Jackson Courthouse, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, tapering jar with rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "JAMES M. POLING . / DEALER IN / DRY GOODS & / GENERAL / MERCHANDISE / JACKSON C.H. W. VA." Freehand stripe decoration above and below. A few chips to interior of rim. Area of chipping along inner wax sealer rim. Some light surface wear. H 10".
