Very Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Woodland, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "HOHNBROOK / BROS. / WOODLAND, / WEST VA," including stenciled floral and geometric motifs. Freehand stripes to shoulder and base. Unusual full spelling of "WEST." The first piece featuring advertising for this town that we have offered. Wear around interior of rim. Some light surface wear. H 9 3/4".
