Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Charleston, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled advertising, "BEN BAER, / WHOLESALE / LIQUOR DEALER / CHARLESTON W.VA." Decorated above with freehand vining and below with a cobalt-script "3" with flourishes, between two freehand stripes. Significant restoration throughout, including some touch-up to cobalt. A salt drip to shoulder. A chip and small in-the-firing ping to spout. H 17".
