Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Ravenswood, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "U LYTLE, / GEN. MDSE. / RAVENSWOOD / W. VA." Freehand stripe decoration to above and below. A 5/8" chip to interior of rim. Some small matte areas to cobalt on proper left side of jar's front. Some light surface wear, including some wear to the "LY" in "LYTLE." Light staining. A 7/8" in-the-making scratch in clay near base on front, which is glazed over. H 9 1/2".
