Scarce Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Littleton, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jar with flattened rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "PYLES & JOLLIFF. / GENERAL / STORE. / LITTLETON, / W.VA." Unusual town name and desirable small size. The only piece featuring advertising for this town that we have ever offered. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., Spring 2021 Auction, lot 340. Very nice condition with light surface wear and a small glazed-over ping to base. H 7".
