Very Rare Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Canning Jar with St. Albans, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, tapering jar with semi-squared "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "W. H. SIMMS. / DEALER IN / GEN. MERCHANDISE. / ST. ALBANS. W. VA." The first piece bearing advertising for this town that we have offered. Small chips around interior of rim. A small chip and two minuscule nicks to inner wax sealer rim. Surface with some light wear, light residue, and minor staining. Old white paint residue to interior. H 8 1/2".
