Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Sistersville, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapering jar with tooled shoulder and rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "From / A & S. THISTLE. / SISTERSVILLE. / W.VA.," underscored by two diagonally-stenciled tulip motifs. Freehand stripe decoration above and below. Minor nicks to interior of rim. Heavy chipping and wear to inner wax sealer rim. Some minor spots of staining. H 9 3/4".
