Very Rare Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Canning Jar with Point Pleasant, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, tapering jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "B. FRANKLIN, / DEALER IN / DRY GOODS, GROCERIES / & C. / POINT PLEASANT, W. VA." This first piece that we have offered with advertising for this town. Very nice condition with only minor flaws: a small chip to interior of rim; minor chipping to inner wax sealer rim; a minor ping to front; traces of old varnish to areas of surface; and a small, recent pen notation on underside. H 8 5/8".
