Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a crested bird with paddle-shaped tail, perched on a flowering vine. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Very nice condition with some oversalting to decoration/surface, a small base, a minor glazed-over base chip, and some light staining. H 9".
