Rare Sugar Notch, PA Stoneware Advertising Jug, Stamped "EVAN R. JONES / PITTSTON, PA," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the slip-trailed advertising, "CONWAY. / Sugar Notch. / Penna." The first piece of stoneware that we have offered bearing advertising for this small, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania town, named for the sugar maple trees that surround it. Excellent condition with some light staining and a minor spout chip. H 11 3/4".
