Two Albany, NY Stoneware Advertising Jugs, New York State origin, mid to late 19th century, one impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "CASTOR OIL / SOLD BY / BOYD & PAUL / WHOLESALE DEALERS / IN DRUGS MEDICINES PAINTS / OILS DYESTUFFS BRUSHES &C / NO 17 STATE CORNER OF DEAN ST / ALBANY," the other impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "CLARKS SYRUP DEPOT / 88 WASHINGTON AVE / ALBANY N Y." Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Shorter jug with a large spider crack across underside, extending onto shoulder of jug, as well as traces of old black paint. Excellent condition with some staining. H (of shorter) 10 1/2".
