Three Pieces of Utilitarian Pottery, American, second half 19th century, a half-gallon salt-glazed stoneware jar, stamped "W. LEWIS MILBURN," Wilkes Street Pottery, Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1875; a lead-glazed redware jar, stamped "JOHN W. BELL / Waynesboro, Pa," late 19th century; and a lead-and-manganese-glazed redware jar, stamped "UPTON M. BELL / Waynesboro, Pa," circa 1895. Provenance: From a fifty-five-year VA collection. Milburn jar with a 4 3/4" firing line from rim on interior, not visible on exterior, a rim chip, a minor in-the-firing base chip and other miniscule base nicks, and an in-the-firing contact mark to base. John W. Bell jar with two cracks from rim, minor chips and wear to rim, and some light surface wear to body. Upton Bell jar with four restored cracks from rim. H (of tallest) 6 7/8".
