Five-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Flowering Urn Decoration, Stamped "W. ROBERTS BINGHAMTON.N.Y," circa 1870, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a curved urn brimming with morning glory vines atop a stylized ground. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes Albany-slip-glazed lid. Provenance: James Chebalo Collection. Significant restoration to surface, not affecting decoration. Some light surface wear to front. Underside slightly raised and in-the-firing fissures to underside. H (including lid) 19".
