Slip-Decorated Redware Flowerpot with Saucer, Anthony Bacher, Winchester, VA, circa 1880, flaring pot with tooled shoulder and crimped rim, the surface dipped in cream-colored slip, decorated with marbled manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed on underside, "BAECHER / WINCHESTER VA." Includes saucer with matching glaze treatment, impressed on interior, "BAECHER / WINCHESTR(sic) VA." Flowerpot survives in good condition for this form with no glaze loss to body. Rim of flowerpot with a few flakes, small chips, and wear, as well as a short surface line from rim. Typical calcium residue to base. Saucer with a 1 1/2" chip and glaze wear. H (including saucer) 6 3/4".
