Redware Plate with Yellow-Slip Bird Decoration, Matawan, NJ origin, second quarter 19th century, with coggled edge, the lead-glazed interior decorated in yellow slip with a large bird with dashed feathering and ringed neck. Provenance: From a fifty-year New England collection. A 1 7/8" filled section to rim. Rim with a few small chips, wear, and old black residue. A few short, faint lines from rim. Interior with a few minor flakes, light surface wear, and staining. Diam. 11 1/4".
