Fine Glazed Redware Bank with Copper Slip Decoration, attributed to Willoughby Smith, Womelsdorf, PA, circa 1880, ovoid bank with footed base, carved vertical coin slot, and button-shaped finial, lavishly-decorated throughout with splashes of bright-green copper slip under a clear lead glaze. Old pencil inscription on underside reads, "Lizzie / Lizzie (?)," possibly the person for whom the bank was made. Provenance: From a fifty-year New England collection. Very nice condition with a small chip and wear to finial as well as some minor wear to slot. H 4 1/4".
