Glazed Pottery Sculpture of a Seated Man, Grand Ledge, MI origin, early 20th century, hand-modeled and slab-built figure of a seated man with hat along with a bird perched on his shoulder, beside him, and on the ground. Surface coated in a clear glaze with celadon highlights. Glazed clay assumes brown color while unglazed areas appear reddish. Provenance: George H. Meyer Collection; acquired from David Good. A large lime in-the-firing ping to one corner. A few additional smaller lime pings to surface including one to bird on figure's shoulder and one on reverse of figure. A few in-the-firing fissures to base. Heavy flaking to underside, likely in-the-firing. Surface crack to proper right shoulder of figure. H 10" ; L 7 3/4" ; W 5 3/4".
