Three Ovoid Stoneware Jugs with Cobalt Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, second quarter 19th century, all with stylized brushed floral or foliate motifs, a one-gallon jug, stamped "J G BALL & CO / POUGHKEEPSIE," NY State origin; a three-gallon jug, stamped "L. NORTON & SON / BENNINGTON," VT origin; and a four-gallon unmarked jug. Ball jug with a large flake to proper right side, a thin crack from spout, shallow chipping around base, green paint residue to spout and handle, and staining to surface. Norton jug with a reglued section to spout, significant cracks descending from rim, a large in-the-firing base chip, and a minor in-the-firing base chip. Other jug with minor chipping to spout and some in-the-firing flaws, including a piece of adhered clay to shoulder and a short line at base. H (of smallest) 12".
