Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, New England origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical crock with tooled body, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a design of a large flower with spotted accents to the blossom and leaves. Cobalt-script "4" at base. Heavy chipping to interior of rim. Four thin cracks from rim, measuring 5 1/2", 3", 3", and 2 1/2". A 7/8" chip to bottom edge. A few other small chips and wear to bottom edge. Light surface staining. H 10 1/2".
