Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H.C. SMITH / ALEXA / D.C.," Wilkes Street Pottery, Alexandria, VA, circa 1835, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, brush-decorated with three horizontal tulips around the circumference of the vessel. Desirable size. Provenance: From a forty-five-year VA collection. Very nice condition. Two small rim chips and a minor U-shaped surface crack to rim. Two small spots of shallow chipping to base. Some in-the-firing gritty residue to shoulder. H 7".
