Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J.H. DIPPLE / LEWISTOWN," PA origin, late 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a large flower blossom flanked by four groups of swags. A 1" hairline from rim above proper left handle. Chips to proper left handle. A thin 1 3/4" crack above proper right handle. A large, faint spider line to shoulder area on reverse. Staining and some in-the-firing mottling to surface. H 11 1/2".
