Four Pieces of Utilitarian Pottery, American, 19th century, a molded stoneware match safe with cobalt decoration, impressed "AMERICAN / BREW. CO. / ROCHESTER, N.Y.", circa 1890; a two-gallon stoneware jar with cobalt swag decoration, attributed to David Parr, Jr., Richmond, VA, circa 1865; a two-gallon jug, stamped "J.H. SONNER / STRASBURG, VA", circa 1890; and a cylindrical lead-glazed redware jar, possibly John Bell, circa 1870. Match safe in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Stoneware jar with a large flake to interior of rim. Jug with a chip to spout, a long, thin crack from spout on reverse, a short crack from spout on front, salt drips to body, a small base chip on reverse, a chip to handle, and other lesser wear. Redware jar with wear to rim and light wear to surface and base. H (of match safe) 3".
