Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H.M. BALLARD / BURLINGTON, VT", circa 1860, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with an artistically-brushed flowering vine design. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A scarce Ballard family maker's mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some brownish residue to surface.
