One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "D. ROBERTS & Co / UTICA," New York State origin, circa 1827-1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, tall collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed tulip blossom extending from a curved stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A 1 1/2" hairline at base, continuing 1 3/4" onto underside. Two small chips to exterior of rim. A few small chips to interior of rim. A 5 1/2" hairline from rim on reverse. A 1 1/2" hairline from rim on right side of jar.
