Two One-Gallon Stoneware Jugs with Cobalt Floral Decoration, NY State origin, both of semi-ovoid form with brushed tulip motifs, one stamped "G. APLEY & CO. / ITHACA, N. Y.;" circa 1860-1862, the other stamped "HALM & VANKLEECK / BATH. N.Y.," circa 1861. Ithaca jug with in-the-firing fissures to underside, a small in-the-firing fissure below spout, an in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder, a small in-the-firing chip to underside at edge, and some staining. Bath jug with staining and blue ink residue to surface, an in-the-firing iron ping to handle, and a short crack to top of spout. H (of taller) 11 1/2".
