Rare Early Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Fish Decoration, attributed to Paul Cushman, Albany, NY, circa 1810, ovoid jug with tooled spout and ribbed handle, decorated with a whimsical incised design of a large fish with open "laughing" mouth, highlighted in bright cobalt slip. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent early decoration. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example from a forty-year Delaware collection. Significant restoration to spout. Base chips.
