TERMS & CONDITIONS

Please familiarize yourself with our terms and conditions before bidding. Your bid represents an acceptance of these terms.

Buyer's Premium

Purchases are subject to an 18% buyer's premium for payments made by cash or good check. For example, if you are the successful bidder on a lot that sells to you for $1000 and you pay by check in a timely manner, the amount you would owe for that purchase would be $1180 (aside from any applicable shipping, tax, etc.). Payments made by credit card or PayPal are subject to an additional 5% surcharge on the selling price. (Using the above scenario, the amount you would owe if paying by credit card would be $1230.) Lots purchased via Live Auctioneers (see below) are subject to an additional 5% surcharge on the selling price. All Property Sold As-Is

All property for sale is sold AS-IS with no guarantee whatsoever, and all sales are final. We have made every attempt to catalog each item as accurately as possible; however, there may be inaccuracies. We strongly encourage prospective buyers to inspect each item personally and make their own judgments. Our assessment of any given item is provided as a service to you, and while it is informed by decades of handling period American ceramics and is usually painstaking in its detail, again, all sales are absolutely final, whether you inspect an item in person or rely solely on our description and / or photographs. We will absolutely not accept any returns or make any adjustments of any kind for any cause whatsoever.

Payment

Payments must be made by cash, good check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express or PayPal, and are due upon receipt of your invoice. Payments that are not received within 15 days of the invoice date are subject to a 5% surcharge on the selling price. Those not known by us may be required to provide a bank authorization guaranteeing their check. We reserve the right to hold items purchased until funds have cleared the bank, and we reserve the right to rescind the sale in the event of auctioneer’s error or omission in executing bids and reserves.

Sales Tax

Maryland sales tax of 6% applies for all items purchased at our gallery or shipped to Maryland. We do not collect sales tax on items shipped out of state, or from in-person buyers who have a valid retail sales tax number. (If you fall into this latter category and have a Maryland sales tax number, you can fill out a Blanket Resale Certificate that we keep on file. If your sales tax number was issued by another state / jurisdiction, please bring a current copy of your state's certificate for us to file with each purchase.)

Bidding on Your Behalf

Absentee, phone and live internet bidding is provided free of charge, as a complimentary service to you, and as is the nature of auctions, in very rare instances mistakes will occur. An auction is a fast-paced environment and while we work very hard throughout the sale employing multiple staff members to help you bid remotely, we are not liable in any way for errors in executing bids on your behalf. Just as we recommend that you please examine all items yourself before bidding, we likewise recommend that you attend the sale in person if you cannot live with a rare mistake on our part.

Estimates

A conservative estimate is listed with each item’s description. A very small percentage of lots in this sale carry a reserve. A reserve is a confidential minimum price established between the auctioneer and consignor, and it will never exceed the low estimate published in the catalog.

Shipping

We provide professional packing and shipping, and will ship items purchased by absentee, telephone or internet bidding at the high bidder’s request. All shipping charges are the responsibility of the high bidder.

Your Bid is a Contract

Bidding on any item indicates your acceptance of these terms, and is a legally-binding contract to fulfill them in their entirety.
